As the statutory local election official, the role of the municipal clerk during an election is multi-faceted and critical to the election process. Mistakes in the execution of a clerk’s election duties can impair ballot access for candidates. This informative session put on by James V. Ferolo and Scot F. Uhler, partners at the municipal law firm of Klein, Thorpe and Jenkins, Ltd., will cover all aspects of the clerk’s role both pre and post election. Topics covered will include the clerk’s duties and responsibilities relative to receipt and review of nomination papers: processing petition objections; participation in the electoral board process; ballot certification; and voting. Attendees will be armed with the information needed to run a successful local election.
This training session is sponsored by Klein, Thorpe and Jenkins, Ltd., Lake County Municipal League and McHenry County Council of Governments.
